Thoughts of Christmas begin at Lamport Hall

Posted 5th November 2024

The year seems to have raced by in a flurry of events and thousands of visitors enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Lamport Hall. As we approach our Christmas events, we are really looking forward to welcoming more of you during the most wonderful time of the year.
On Saturday 23rd November we welcome Beckis Cooper for a performance of Unversed – a one-woman Stratford-commissioned solo Shakespeare show.

Unversed was commissioned and created for the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio for Keats House in Hampstead where it premiered to great reviews and has since toured to Doctor Johnson’s House in Fleet Street, John Clare Cottage and The Painted Room in Oxford and will go to Stratford in 2025. Beckis will be performing both a matinee and evening performance at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. Adult tickets are £20 with student and child tickets also available.

On Tuesdays from the 5th November to the 17th December we are hosting handmade Christmas workshops to encourage a more sustainable Christmas. Workshops include glass decorations, wreath making, stocking making, needlefelting, punch needle decorations and linocut Christmas cards; there really is something for everyone, of all skill levels. Tickets start from £35pp and include all materials, tuition and a hot drink and mince pie.

On Saturday 30th November & Sunday 1st December and Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December our popular Christmas Market returns. We will be opening over two consecutive weekends for the first time from 10am-4pm. The event includes over 100 stalls selling gifts, food and decorations, mulled wine and festive hot food, a local choir, a photobooth, entertainment and facepainting. Adult entry is £5pp and under 16s go free.

Alongside our Christmas Market, we will be launching our new for 2024 Father Christmas in the Tudor House experience. The visit includes a personalised, wrapped gift, entry to the Christmas Market, crafts, a personalised ‘nice’ certificate, a sweet treat, a meet and greet with Father Christmas and his elves by a roaring fire and refreshments for adults. Pre-booking is essential. Entry is £20 per child with an adult and additional adults are £4 per person.

Another new addition for this year is the launch of our Christmas Shop and Café on Thursdays to Sundays from the 28th November to the 22nd December. Explore our special Christmas gift shop selling decorations, gifts and stocking fillers and our café stocked with festive specials including hot drinks, sweet treats and festive toasties. The shop and café will be open 10am-3pm and is free entry and parking (aside from Christmas Market days).
