A Northampton-based shoe company has donated nearly 100 pairs of shoes to nurses at Northampton General Hospital to show its support for those on the frontline of the fight against COVID-19.

Established in 2010, Its Got Soul specialises in creating comfortable and durable shoes that don’t compromise on style. Selling shoes predominantly online, via their website, the company have been able to operate as usual and so sort out opportunities to help others in need.

They saw the incredible work NHS staff were doing and decided to hand over 88 pairs of shoes, to nurses at Northampton General Hospital.

With healthcare workers having to consistently change out of shoes and clothing when exiting infected areas, Its Got Soul saw this as an opportunity to provide female frontline workers with a free pair of shoes to wear at work or in their daily lives.

Teresa O’Driscoll, Owner of Its Got Soul, said: “We are very proud to have donated shoes to the nurses working at Northampton General Hospital.

This is a cause close to our hearts, with family members and friends working at hospitals and care homes across the country. We are humbled by their incredible work and the tireless hours they are devoting to keeping the nation safe.

The shoes we have donated are some of the first designs we released as a brand. These were created with input from the School of Podiatry in Northampton, making them supportive and durable enough for busy frontline workers, who are on their feet all day.”

Working with the School of Podiatry on their initial designs, all of Its Got Soul’s shoes are now created with the same principles in mind.

The shoes have a cushioned leather insole, a non-slip, shock-absorbing sole and are made from soft leather, with a strap to hold the foot in place.

Over the years the brand has grown to encompass a brightly coloured range of styles, from loafers and brogues, to trainers and slipper shoes.

In an extra effort to support the NHS, 10% of the price of all shoes purchased on the Its Got Soul website, are being donated to the NHS Charities Together COVID- 19 Urgent Appeal.
