Leading Housebuilder Spreads Festive Cheer
Posted 22nd December 2020Leading Northampton-based developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes has donated £6,000 to the Northampton Hope Centre to help support the work they do to tackle homelessness.
The donation, which was matched by parent company Barratt Developments to make £6,000, will now go towards the charity’s outreach work combatting poverty and homelessness across the county.
Their work helps people experiencing the most acute problems of disadvantage, exclusion and marginalisation.
As well as giving practical support, they focus on helping people to help themselves, providing support and services that will enable individuals to take back control of their own lives, and campaign with them against the causes of their disadvantage.
Noo Jarvill, Corporate Fundraiser at Northampton Hope Centre, said: “We are delighted to be continuing our relationship with Barratt and David Wilson Homes and are completely overwhelmed by your generosity. Without support like this we would be unable to help those who rely on our services, so thank you very much indeed for this wonderful, timely donation – it will be used wisely.”
Last year, staff at the housebuilder volunteered at the charity’s Hope Gardening Project, which helps provide organic, healthy produce to the food centres. With recycled garden tools, the employees helped to water, plant, compost and rake the allotments that will help to feed those in need.
John Dillon, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “It was a great honour to be able to donate £6,000 to help support the Northampton Hope Centre this Christmas.
“We admire the work this charity does to help people get themselves out of homelessness and poverty and the services and training they provide are vital for our community.
“As housebuilders we pride ourselves on providing quality homes for people and their families to live in; but sadly, for some in our community they either have no place to call home or live close to poverty.
“We felt really strongly about being able to help those less fortunate and give something back to the communities in which we live and operate.”
Barratt and David Wilson Homes is committed to creating a positive legacy not only in the quality of the homes and developments that they build but also with their work with charities and good cases throughout the UK.
