Hello Delapré
Posted 11th July 2024
Delapré Abbey invites you to step back in time for the Battle of Northampton Day (July 14) with tours of the battlefield, and you can learn about the pivotal moments from the 1460 clash and have the opportunity to engage with reenactors who will bring the era to vivid life.
You can even attend a medieval hawking show in the Walled Garden, a must-see display of medieval hunting birds in action.
On July 21, it will be canines, not birds that fill the space, with Delapré’s inaugural Doggy Dawdle – you get to walk, jog or run with your pooch at this doggy themed fun run. It’s not too strenuous either; choose from a one, two or three mile route. Will you go walkies or up the pace? Tails will wag.
An afternoon session of Princess fun is planned for August 3 and August 17, when the venue teams up with Kelly’s Princess Parties for an afternoon tea (with all the expected sandwiches, scones and treats), the opportunity to meet the Princesses and enjoy music, singing and dancing, games, Princess training, bubbles and photo time. Which little child wouldn’t enjoy this?
Dinosaurs in the Park (August 16 – September 1) will be a roar-some event, and one that is set to transform the grounds!
Look into the trees and discover the dinos hidden there. Marvel at the majestic Brachiosaurus, be wowed by the T-Rex and learn lots of fascinating facts courtesy of the Dinosaur Dentist.
A bouncy castle, face painting and fossil digging will add to the fun.
Once you’ve completed the trail, a fun zone will deliver lots of hands-on activities, including mini golf, soft play for the under 3’s, and a visit to the Palaeontological tent will deliver fossils and dinosaur dung. Kids will love this – and plenty of adults will, too!
