Discover Genevieve’s Café: Northampton’s newest family-friendly coffeehouse
Posted 23rd May 2024A delightful new family café, Genevieve’s Café, has opened its doors in Pineham, Northampton, offering a warm and welcoming space for the entire community.
Genevieve’s Café, named after owner Laura Hughes’ daughter, Genevieve, is a family-run coffeehouse that prides itself on being dog-friendly, accessible, and equipped with a soft play area for children under five. This new spot is set to become a beloved local hub for residents and visitors alike.
Laura Hughes, the passionate entrepreneur behind the Café, decided to open the café for several heartfelt reasons. “Living in the village made me realise that there wasn’t anything like this around here. We wanted to create a space that’s not only accessible for everyone, including those with disabilities, but also a place where parents, children, groups, and even dogs feel welcome,” she shared.
Laura, who previously ran The Mum Club in Milton Keynes, invested several months preparing the space. She emphasized the importance of having a community-focused venue that offers something for everyone. “I felt like all the typical soft play areas are all about the children. It’s nice to have a place where parents can enjoy a coffee and a chat while the little ones are entertained. Being near the county park, it makes for a lovely day out. You can pop in, enjoy a drink, and relax in our air-conditioned café,” Laura added.
Genevieve’s Café sources its coffee from local suppliers Carrera Coffee and serves a variety of hot and cold drinks, brunch, lunch, children’s meals, cakes, and more. The initial soft launch menu features delightful options like traditional breakfasts, sandwiches, and vegan treats, with a full menu set to roll out soon.
The café also supports local businesses by selling cards, flowers, reusable glass cups, candles, and baked goods from local artisans such as Baked by Gem, Love Blondie Brownies, and Whipped Cakes. Looking ahead, Laura plans to host events, supper clubs, and even obtain an alcohol license for evening gatherings.
Genevieve’s Café is open seven days a week from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and is currently hiring for kitchen staff and a full-time barista. Interested applicants can email info@genevievescafe.com for more information.
