After a soggy no-show last year (blame the thunder, lightning and sheets of rain), Northamptonshire’s much-loved cycling challenge, Cycle4Cynthia, is making a big, bold return this September—and it’s got its sights set on a record-breaking ride.

Mark your diary for Sunday 21st September, because that’s when hundreds of wheels will hit the road, rolling out from the beautiful Althorp Estate for a day of pedal-powered fundraising. Whether you’re a lycra-loving long-hauler or someone who hasn’t ridden since the ‘90s, there’s a route for you—options range from a gentle 5 miles to a thigh-testing 70.

And it’s not just about the ride. Cycle4Cynthia is famous for its warm, community vibe—with music, food, family-friendly fun and feel-good energy at the finish line. It’s a celebration of life, love, and the brilliant work of Cynthia Spencer Hospice, which provides vital care to people across Northamptonshire.

“Last year’s cancellation was heartbreaking,” says Anita Frith, Director of Income Generation & Communications at the hospice. “We had no choice—it simply wasn’t safe to go ahead in those conditions. But this year, we’re back, and we’re determined to make it the biggest and best yet.”

Since its launch 22 years ago, Cycle4Cynthia has raised more than £800,000—and the hope is that 2025’s event will push that number even higher. It’s all powered by the passion of local people like Kate Stamp, who rode the 10-mile route in 2023 in memory of her friend Rachel, a former hospice patient.

“I was nervous setting off on my own,” she remembers. “But the atmosphere was amazing—everyone was cheering, and you really felt like part of something special.”

If you fancy joining in this year (on two wheels or just cheering from the sidelines), early bird entry is open until 31st July—so don’t hang about.
