Winter Light Trail brings Christmas magic to Northampton’s Delapré Abbey

Posted 14th September 2025

Picture this: you’re wandering through the historic grounds of Delapré Abbey, but instead of leafy woodland and quiet gardens, you’re met with glowing archways, twinkling trees and shimmering installations that look like they’ve stepped straight out of a Christmas film. That’s exactly what’s waiting for you at Northampton’s Winter Light Trail, running from Friday 28th November to Wednesday 31st December.

It’s not just a walk – it’s over a mile of magic. You’ll follow illuminated pathways that wind through woodland and gardens, discovering brand-new light installations, interactive features and captivating soundscapes along the way. In short, it’s designed to make you stop, smile, and maybe even gasp a little. (Yes, it’s that good.)

And just when you think it can’t get any cosier, there’s the pit stop. A roaring fire, marshmallows to toast, mugs of hot chocolate (or mulled wine if you fancy something a little stronger), plus street food from local favourites to keep you fuelled. The kids can say hello to Santa in his grotto, while grown-ups can level up the evening by booking an Alpine-inspired private chalet for 8–10 people. Think twinkling fairy lights, snug vibes, and the perfect spot to round off your adventure.

With tickets already flying out (some sessions have sold out), it’s wise to snap yours up early. Prices start at £12.50 for children and seniors, £17 for adults, and £50 for families.

So whether you’re bringing the whole gang, planning a festive date night, or just fancy giving yourself a dose of Christmas sparkle, Northampton’s Winter Light Trail at Delapré Abbey is the one to put on your list this year.
