What’s on this Christmas in Northampton

Join Northampton Town Council for a stocking-stuffed line up of free festive fun on Saturday 23rd November for Northampton’s Annual Christmas Lights Switch On. This year, the event returns to the newly opened Market Square in the heart of Northampton town centre.
Panto Stars from the Royal & Derngate’s ‘Cinderella’ and The Deco Theatre’s ‘Peter Pan’ will be joined onstage by Santa, the Mayor of Northampton and some very special guests at 5pm to start the countdown to the most magical time of the year.

The live stage will feature a packed schedule of entertainment and performances alongside community stalls, festive workshops and activities. Boombastic Events’ Christmas Silent Disco will be in full swing to get everyone in the party spirit and Lemonpop Workshops will be providing participatory makes throughout the afternoon. Facepainting and Balloon modelling will be underway with Santa’s elves providing lots of festive cheer and cheekiness!

Get ready for a bumper festive family event as the beautiful surroundings of Becket’s Park turn into a Winter Wonderland this Christmas.
Join us for live performances on the Christmas bandstand featuring children’s entertainers, brass bands, local dance and musical group performances.

Get into the party spirit at Boombastic Events’ Christmas Silent Disco, sing along to Christmas Karaoke, or have a go on the magical ice rink and children’s fun fair rides. There will be plenty of Christmas crafts and festive workshops to get involved with including make and take projects, facepainting, balloon modelling and much more. ‘Sleigh bells ring, are you listening’ – the magical Christmas horse and carriage rides return to the park, not to be missed!

Browse stands featuring seasonal produce and gifts, local community groups, businesses and organisations inside the Christmas Cheer Marquee then relax in the festive bar and with a variety of food and drink on offer.

Northampton BID’s Golden Ticket Prize Draw returns for 2024, launching Saturday 2nd November at Northampton Town Council’s Fireworks Spectacular! The ever-popular competition will see four lucky recipients win £500 by hand-posting their entry ticket into special post boxes found in shops and businesses in the town centre.

Santa’s Grotto – From 23rd November, Grosvenor Shopping Northampton – Hosted by Northampton BID, sponsored by Northampton Town Council. Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the big man himself! Families will be able to meet Santa in his Grotto at Grosvenor Shopping; launching at the Christmas Lights Switch On event on Saturday 23rd November; then open from 10.30am to 4pm every Saturday and Sunday in December, as well as Monday, 23rd December.

NLive Radio will broadcast a 24-hour Northampton Christmas radio station, playing back-to-back festive tracks, while an interactive song lyrics trail will be held around the town centre throughout December.

Don’t forget to visit the town’s brilliant shops for your Christmas gifts and enjoy a drink or bite to eat at one of the many cafes, restaurants and bars.
