If you’re dreaming of a Christmas that’s full of sparkle, laughter, and a little old-world charm, Delapré Abbey is about to make those wishes come true. This winter, Northampton’s beloved historic gem is transforming into a festive wonderland bursting with seasonal cheer — and trust us, it’s one you won’t want to miss.
From time-honoured favourites to fresh new experiences, the Abbey’s 2025 festive calendar is brimming with reasons to wrap up warm and join the fun. Things kick off in glittering style with the return of the Annual Christmas Fair on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd November, where entry is just £2. Visitors can browse a host of artisan stalls, meet a few friendly alpacas, hop on vintage fairground rides, and even step inside a walk-in Snow Globe — the perfect festive photo moment.

But that’s just the start. This year, Delapré Abbey is turning up the heat (literally) with a brand-new partnership with Wild Sauna Club. Guests can swap the shopping rush for a little self-care, booking in for a blissful sauna and cold plunge session right on the Abbey grounds. It’s the ultimate winter reset — steam, chill, repeat.
Of course, Christmas at Delapré wouldn’t be complete without a visit from Father Christmas himself. Santa will be popping by throughout the fair, greeting families and spreading a little extra holiday magic. And, as always, visitors are encouraged to bring along food donations to support Northampton’s Hope Centre and Food Aid Far Cotton — a simple way to share the season’s goodwill.
Then, from Friday 28th November to Sunday 21st December, families can step inside Santa’s Grotto, where the Abbey’s grand rooms will be transformed into the jolly man’s workshop. Children can meet Santa, share their Christmas wishes, and even take home an early gift from the sleigh. It’s pure festive joy (and a guaranteed memory-maker for the little ones).
As night falls, the Abbey’s grounds will glitter with the Winter Light Trail, running until 31st December, creating a twinkling escape perfect for a wintry stroll. Indoors, the festive spirit continues with a Dickens’ Afternoon Tea in the Library from 13th to 21st December, combining decadent treats with a dash of Victorian nostalgia.
And for theatre fans? The Abbey’s atmospheric 17th Century Wine Cellar sets the scene for a spellbinding performance of A Christmas Carol: Don’t Go into the Cellar on 20th and 21st December — a candlelit nod to Charles Dickens that promises to stir hearts and imaginations alike.
With so many events to enjoy, Delapré Abbey is the perfect festive destination for families, friends, and anyone looking to celebrate the season in spectacular style.
