Oktoberfest is rolling back into Delapré Abbey this September – and the call has gone out for Northamptonshire to dust off its lederhosen and get ready to party Bavarian-style.
The South Lawn will swap its usual calm for beer, music and Bavarian cheer on Friday 26th September (7pm–11pm) and Saturday 27th September, with two lively sessions running in the afternoon (2pm–6pm) and evening (7pm–11pm). Whichever you choose, you’ll find the Abbey buzzing with live bands, hearty food, steins in hand, and plenty of good-natured fun.
This year, there’s no giant tent or Oompah band – instead, the Abbey is going for a more intimate, local flavour. Expect a South Lawn dressed with Bavarian touches, brilliant live music from local acts, and food stalls serving up everything you’d want alongside a stein (think bratwurst, pretzels and other hearty bites). It’s about atmosphere – dancing, singing, clinking glasses with friends, and maybe making a few new ones along the way.
And while lederhosen and dirndls aren’t compulsory, they are highly encouraged. In fact, there are prizes for the best dressed, so if you’ve ever fancied yourself in full Bavarian gear, this is your moment. (And if not, don’t worry – you’ll still be welcome with open arms and a cold beer.)
Tickets are £20 in advance (available until 25th September) and £25 on the day. For larger groups, the Abbey’s team are ready to help at events@delapreabbey.org.
With Bavarian décor, music, food, steins of beer and even a costume prize up for grabs, Delapré Abbey’s Oktoberfest promises to be a weekend to remember. So grab your mates, get your outfits sorted, and prepare for an autumn celebration like no other. Prost!
