Sophie Krywald, the mastermind behind The Sweat and Glow Club, couldn’t be more excited about her event: “I wanted to plan something to celebrate the progress of The Sweat and Glow Club. We’ve built such a strong community of women and the event is a chance for them to have a nice time away from the class. They will be able to let their hair down and build new friendships. I really wanted to celebrate their support from over the past year. I couldn’t have done this without them,
“It’s also a chance for us to shine a line on our fantastic local businesses, there are so many right here in Northamptonshire! I want to show people that you can have these kind of events in our county, you don’t need to travel to place like London for events like ours – we can have them right here in our hometown.
“The event is open to everyone – you don’t have to attend our classes to come along, everyone is welcome!”
About The Sweat and Glow Club
The Sweat and Glow Club classes are held every Tuesday at Mode Movement in Wellingborough and every Thursday at The Masque Theatre in Kettering.
Sophie said: “I decided to start The Sweat and Glow Club for a few different reasons. I wanted to create a space for women to embrace the joy of dance without any pressure or judgment. It’s not about being a pro; it’s about having a blast and feeling amazing, there’s absolutely no competition.
“I began dancing at a young age and quickly fell in love with how it made me feel, especially whilst navigating my journey with grief.
“After school I would head to my room, turn up some Britney and dance around my room for a few hours. It was the perfect kind of escapism. Knowing how much better I always felt afterwards, I decided to pursue dance as a career, which slowly shaped into sharing that same joy and healing with others.”
In Sophie’s classes you can expect to dance to Britney through to Beyoncé, and all the chart-topping hits in between, basically anything that creates the ultimate girl power vibes.
Sophie added: “Another reason I started the classes was due to how tricky it can be to form new friendships as an adult. I studied in Leeds and spent a few years in London so when I moved back to Northamptonshire, I found it quite hard to meet new people as the majority of my friends lived in different parts of the country.
“I began to realise a lot of people felt the same so I wanted to create a space that was community focused. People can come and make friends and just have the best time. We always end sessions with a chat and self care activity, so many of the girls have formed friendships from this part of the class in particular.”
