Cancer patient launches fitness-focused charity to support others living with the disease

A Northamptonshire mother diagnosed with terminal cancer is preparing to launch a new charity designed to support others living with the condition through exercise-based initiatives.
Victoria Skinner, 38, who has been living with cancer since 2015, is set to unveil The Tor-Rox Foundation at a formal launch event in Northampton on 26 March 2025. The charity, named in part after her nickname, ‘Tor’, will offer financial grants to help cancer patients access personalised exercise and wellness programmes.
The mother of five-year-old Isla has raised more than £33,000 through a series of strenuous personal challenges, including a solo Hyrox competition, in her effort to fund the organisation. Her ultimate goal is to raise £40,000 to fully establish the Foundation.
“The Foundation has been a year in the making,” said Ms Skinner. “Completing the solo Hyrox last year made me realise I wanted to do something that could benefit other cancer patients, and also create a lasting legacy for my daughter. I’m a firm believer that fitness and weight training can have a profound impact on physical and mental health, particularly for those facing cancer.”
The charity’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for those with a current cancer diagnosis by facilitating access to independent fitness and wellbeing facilities tailored to individual needs. As well as physical training, the Foundation aims to support patients emotionally and mentally during and after treatment.
“Cancer may have changed my life, but through exercise I found a strength I never knew I had,” Ms Skinner added. “Every breath and every stretch is a reminder that I’m still here.”
The launch event will take place at The Picturedrome in Northampton, supported by two local sponsors — Empowerment Training Centre and Fullcross Electrical. Ms Skinner’s husband Joseph, who is a trustee of the charity, said the event would be an opportunity to build support, attract fundraisers and raise awareness among potential grant applicants.
“Tor is remarkable in her determination,” he said. “What we are creating is something we believe to be unique. We hope to engage local businesses and individuals who share our vision of supporting those in need.”
The Tor-Rox Foundation is inviting cancer patients, supporters and prospective donors to attend the launch. More information and registration details can be found at www.Tor-Rox.com.
