Wetlands don’t shout for attention. They quietly filter water, shelter wildlife and hold ecosystems together behind the scenes. And this March, Philippa Forrester is coming to Stanwick Lakes to explain exactly why that quiet work matters more than most of us realise.

On Tuesday 24 March 2026, the wildlife expert, writer and presenter will be live at Stanwick Lakes, sharing her insights into why this reserve is such an important haven for wetland wildlife — and why protecting places like this has significance far beyond the lakes themselves.

With a career spent bringing wildlife stories to a wide audience, Philippa has a knack for making complex conservation topics feel accessible and relevant. Her talk will explore the species and habitats that thrive at Stanwick Lakes, while connecting the dots between local action and global impact.

This event also plays an important role in supporting the future of the site. As an independent charity, Stanwick Lakes relies on events like this, alongside memberships, donations and volunteers, to fund conservation work, education programmes and the ongoing care of this internationally recognised wetland landscape.

The talk begins at 2pm in the event marquee, followed by a live Q&A, giving visitors the chance to put their questions directly to Philippa. Afterwards, attendees can have a copy of her latest book, Wild Woman, personally signed.

To make the afternoon even more enjoyable, afternoon tea will be available in the Visitor Centre and can be booked alongside tickets — a relaxed way to round off an inspiring event.
Prices start from £24.95 per person, with early booking recommended.

The takeaway
If you care about wildlife, conservation or simply understanding the places on your doorstep a little better, this is an afternoon well worth booking.
