A Decade of Christmas Magic: Royal & Derngate’s ‘Unforgettable Gift’ Returns to Spread Joy Across Northamptonshire

For many families across Northamptonshire, that magic has come courtesy of Royal & Derngate’s Unforgettable Gift campaign — and this year, it’s celebrating a very special milestone.

Now in its tenth year, Unforgettable Gift 2025 is back with a mission: to spread more joy, more laughter, and more festive sparkle than ever before. The theatre aims to give away hundreds of tickets for its Christmas shows — and even productions into 2026 — to children, young people, and families in Northampton who are facing tough times this year.

A Gift That Keeps on Giving

Working hand in hand with the Northamptonshire Community Foundation and the Sir Gyles Isham Bursary (on behalf of Lamport Hall Preservation Trust), the campaign continues to thrive thanks to the kindness of audiences, local businesses, and community partners.

And this year, Britvic Soft Drinks Plc is joining the celebrations once again, providing drinks and goodie bags to make the experience even sweeter (because who doesn’t love a little extra treat at Christmas?).

Since it first began in 2015, the appeal has gifted over 4,500 tickets to families in need, raising more than £160,000 through 19,000 donations. Last year alone, 29 charities and foundations were supported — proof that when the community comes together, remarkable things happen.

Stories That Warm the Heart

Rachel McGrath, Chief Executive of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, reflected on the impact: “Royal & Derngate’s Unforgettable Gift brings such joy to so many families each year, especially those who face financial challenges during the festive season… We’re delighted to continue helping make the theatre accessible to all.”

And the difference is felt deeply. Teresa McCarthy-Dixon, founder of The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation, shared her gratitude from last year’s campaign: “These tickets truly make a world of difference for our families… It really brightens their Christmas and gives the children a truly memorable experience they will cherish for many years to come.”

This year’s donations will help fund free tickets to The All New Adventures of Peter Pan and Mog’s Christmas — two productions guaranteed to fill the theatre with laughter, wonder and festive spirit.

Customers can add a £10 gift-aided donation when booking tickets, helping to bring the joy of live theatre to those who might not otherwise experience it.
