You know those days where you just want to let loose, laugh a bit louder, and not worry about keeping your clothes clean? This is one of them.

Northampton is about to get a full-on splash of colour again as the much-loved Northampton Colour Run makes its vibrant return on Sunday 14th June at Overstone Park—and honestly, it’s shaping up to be brighter, bolder, and more joy-filled than ever.

A run… but not as you know it

Forget chasing a personal best. This is a 5km “run” where the only real goal is to have fun (and maybe end up looking like a human rainbow by the finish line).

As you make your way around the course, you’ll pass through ‘Paint Stations’ where bursts of coloured powder fill the air—covering you, your mates, and probably anyone within a five-metre radius. By the end, you won’t just cross the finish line… you’ll explode across it in colour.

And don’t worry—this isn’t chaos without conscience. The powder paint is natural, non-toxic and biodegradable, so it’s safe for you, the kids, and the environment too.

No pressure, just pure fun

Whether you’re a runner, a walker, or more of a “let’s dance our way round and call it exercise” type—this event is completely pressure-free. There’s no time limit, no stopwatch stress. Just you, your people, and a whole lot of colour.

(Yes, fancy dress is absolutely encouraged. The brighter, the better.)

Why it matters

Behind all the laughter and colour clouds is something genuinely important. Every ticket supports Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity, which provides specialist palliative care for people living with life-limiting illnesses—and vital support for their families.

As Sarah Sturman, Community and Events Fundraiser, puts it:
“Every handful of colour thrown, every step taken, and every laugh shared helps us continue providing specialist palliative care for local people when it matters most. Your fun fuels our care.”

She adds:
“A high-energy burst of fun where you can run, walk, skip, or dance your way through a storm of bright powder and come out the other side gloriously unrecognisable.”

And honestly… that’s half the appeal, isn’t it?

The takeaway (because you’ll thank yourself later)

If your summer calendar is looking a bit beige, this is your cue to fix it. Grab your friends, rope in the family, wear something you don’t mind ruining—and go make a memory that’s loud, messy, and genuinely meaningful.

Because sometimes, doing good should feel this fun.
