You know that last-minute “what are we doing this weekend then?” feeling? Consider it sorted.

Because Delapré Abbey has quietly (well, not that quietly) turned Easter weekend into a full-blown celebration — the kind where you arrive for a quick wander and end up staying for hours, slightly sun-kissed, snack in hand, wondering why you don’t do this more often.

Set against those sweeping historic grounds, everything is ready and waiting. And yes, it’s all happening this weekend.

The Easter Eggstravaganza is back and already in full swing from Friday 3rd to Monday 6th April — taking over the house and grounds with the sort of wholesome chaos families secretly love. There’s an egg trail weaving through the Walled Garden (competitive parents, you’ve been warned), hands-on crafts, lawn games, fairground rides, seed planting… and, stealing the show just a little bit, alpacas. You can meet them. You can feed them. You will absolutely end up with about 47 photos on your phone.

Then there’s Bite Street NN, rolling in from Thursday 2nd to Saturday 4th April and bringing the flavour with it. Think sizzling street food, sweet treats you didn’t plan on but fully deserve, good music and that easy, buzzy atmosphere that makes everything feel like a mini festival. You might come for lunch. You’ll probably stay for seconds.

Midweek magic comes courtesy of Preacher the Storyteller, who returns on Wednesday 8th April with immersive sessions in the Walled Garden. Expect a trip to the wonderfully named Imaginarü, plenty of interaction, and just enough unpredictability to keep everyone (grown-ups included) properly entertained.

If your version of Easter leans more “slow down” than “go, go, go”, The Orangery Café has its Mary, Mary Afternoon Tea ready to go — a gentler, more indulgent way to soak up the season. Think fresh sandwiches, warm scones, delicate cakes, and a setting that practically insists you linger a little longer.

And for younger visitors itching for a bit of independence, Delapré Bike Doctor’s Learn2Ride sessions are doing something quietly brilliant — helping children ditch the stabilisers and build real confidence on two wheels (cue proud parent moments).

But really, this is your reminder. If you’ve been meaning to plan something, this is it. Food, fresh air, a bit of adventure, and maybe an alpaca encounter thrown in for good measure.

So round up your people, book what you need to, and make a day of it. Because weekends like this don’t hang around.
