Northampton Town Council has unveiled its 2026 events calendar, bringing a packed programme of free festivals, family events and community celebrations to the town throughout the year.

From live music and cultural festivals to historic traditions and seasonal highlights, the calendar offers plenty of things to do in Northampton in 2026 for residents and visitors alike.

Spring events in Northampton kick off with music and celebrations

The programme begins in early April with the much-loved Bands in the Park series at Abington Park. Taking place every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday until the end of September, the performances showcase a variety of local brass bands, singers and musicians at the historic bandstand.

On Saturday 25th April, the town celebrates St George’s Day at the Market Square, with children’s activities, crafts, Morris dancing and the chance to meet St George and his friendly dragon.

Later in the month, the Rockin’ Roadrunner Festival arrives at Abington Park on 24th May, offering live music and activities designed for adults with disabilities.

The month concludes with the historic Oak Apple Day on 29th May at All Saints’ Church, where Pikemen and Musketeers in 17th-century dress lead a traditional ceremony dating back centuries.

Summer festivals bring music, pride and community spirit

Armed Forces Day follows on 27th June at the Market Square, with military displays, activities and entertainment honouring service personnel.

On 11th July, the town comes together for the Northampton Pride Festival, a lively celebration of the LGBTQ+ community featuring a parade, live performances and entertainment in the Market Square.

In August, the popular Northampton Balloon Festival returns, with the council supporting a Community Marquee showcasing local groups and organisations.

Autumn events highlight music, heritage and culture

Music takes centre stage on 6th September with the Northampton Music Festival, where venues across the town host performances spanning genres from rock to musical theatre.

Later in the month, Heritage Open Days offer a chance to explore Northampton’s history. On 19th September, visitors can step inside the Guildhall for a special From Courtroom to Council Chamber experience.

The Diwali Winter Festival of Lights on 31st October brings colour and celebration to the town centre, with food, crafts, performances and a lantern procession featuring large-scale puppets and local schoolchildren.
